Why Instrumentation?

Now that I have figured out why exactly I started this, Im back.

Im in the most interesting part of my life now. Local slang (Chennai, India) for how I am would be "vetti". Ive just completed a degree in bachelor of engineering in instrumentation and control not understanding why.

The feelings of the class were aptly summed up when our brilliant HOD asked us why we joined Instrumentation at SRM. There we were, awkwardly poised on little toddler stools in the Process Control Labs (those endowed with bigger rears were liberally off the stools too...apologies to Abishek), faced with the most unanswerable question since we took the pill (actually clisked in the sinle window counselling for engineering entrance). But there existed an answer, the most obvious one at that....because we didnt have anything else?

We were a bunch of fellows (partial losers) and fellies having made a compromise between worse of department in better college/better department in worse of college. Every one of us, at that. Even the affluent Management Quota guys were nothing but guys with not enough money to afford a better department or a better college.

Looking back I realise that all my attempts to relive my boredom during my college days were a vain protest against the system which forced me upon Instrumentation and Control at SRM.

Last Week, a close Family friend wanted to know about Instrumentation and Control, for his neice to join. He wanted to know about prospects and placements and pretty much what the hell it was about since no one seemed to have a clue.

I t took me four years, countless hours of boredom sleeping and chatting away at class, eons of wasted time pondering pointlessly as to why must experiments be redone according to the lab manual, and tonnes of moolah paid through the nose, in the form of fees and through fines to figure out that......Neither did I know.

PS: My Apologies for people unfamiliar with the following : Single Window Counselling, The BE Degree System in India and Abisheks true Butt size.
