I have always prided myself with my knowledge of my fish. A long session yesterday with a couple of websites on aquarium care demolished my pride.
I been having an aquarium at home since I was 13. It was brought home as a form of therapy for my Grandfather who was suffering from Parkinsons disease. Since then, I have caring for my aquarium or should I say multitude of aquariums for the aquatic scene at home was constantly changing and diminishing with the shifting and the ever increasing academic burden upon my head (I now have a small excuse for a tank and a goldfish bowl). What I knew of, was cultivated by spending time with fish-heads (if such a term existed) while I was fish shopping (my favourite breed is the Sword Tail Mollie and Gorami).
But yesterday, I discovered that after 8 odd years of supposedly comfortable fish care, one musnt remove fish from the tank for cleaning (stresses them out). Other shocking stuff were to follow, cloudiness cused due to bacterial growth, excess or imbalance of nitrites, phosphates etc. (due to fish shitting) and algal growth encouraged by overfeeding and sunlight.
My tank is now cloudy, grown over with algae. I got to find the money to buy a decent filter. And my goldfish has a nasty red blotch on head(actually in the space between the eyes, but convinient to think of as head). And I am too lazy to clean.
PS: I shall upload some pics of my fish from the better days earlier.

You should get a regular fish tank, instead of the fish bowls in your picture, if you don't already have one. Get a good filter system and change a little of the water every week, and the fish will do just fine. Get some filter media from the local pet shop to soak up excess ammonia and odors and place in a bag in your filter so keep the water conditions nice.
